PickiPedia:Creative Commons
Creative Commons licenses are a formalization of the agreement established between the Grateful Dead and concert tapers in the 1960s and 70s.
These licenses empower artists to release their music in efficient, censorship-resistant, fan-friendly ways, such as via peer-to-peer networks and lossless audio formats which are DRM-free.
Everywhere that records and shows are displayed on PickiPedia, Creative Commons-compatible media are given priority. See: PickiPedia:Release Types
Compatible Licenses and agreements
For the purposes of referencing content on PickiPedia, it's reasonable to include, for example, recordings on archive.org which have express permissions from the artist which have the same affordances as one of the established Creative Commons licenses, such as the license text authored by Sam Grisman to enable sharing and distribution of his project's live recordings.
Recording a license
- The Creative Commons organization maintains a "chooser" to help select the license that fits your musical project: https://creativecommons.org/chooser/
Then, on the pickipedia page for your record, in {{Record}}:
{{Record
|artist = <band name>
|license = CC BY-SA 4.0
}}
